Peter Stephens t/as Kitesurfkit
Having lived in Cornwall all my life you can say Watersports is in my DNA – Kitesurfing, Wing Foiling, Windsurfing, SUP, Sailing, and more. With the longest UK county coastline it is hardly surprising that I have taken advantage of the abundant bounty that Cornwall has on offer. My father was a boat builder and I raced sailing dinghies and catamarans from an early age. In 1979 windsurfing became my primary interest both racing and playing in waves. I enjoyed success in Windsurf racing, wining many national titles and representing Team GB at the student worlds. Passionate about this watersport, I moved into Instructing and coaching and this lead on to my involvement in selling top end Watersports equipment.

As the owner of the Cornwall’s leading Watersports specialist shops – Westcountry Watersports, in 1996, we were one of the first retailers to embrace Kiteboarding in its infancy.
Passionate to this day- I try to ensure all my customers get the best advice coupled with the best service. I have been supplying gear now for around 30 years. On this journey, initially with many of the brands we still see today, I adopted North Kiteboarding which has since morphed into Duotone. Through out the last 20+ years this has remained as my primary brand of choice.

Moving on from owning Westcountry Watersports which is still going strong at Mylor Yacht Harbour (originally in Truro) – I established Kitesurfkit to enjoy sharing the lifestyle that Kitesurfing in Cornwall entails. Concentrating on Duotone Kiteboarding, the #1 kiteboarding brand in the marketplace today, I still retain a passion to keep promoting both the sport and the brand.

In my remaining spare time when not on the water I like to travel. Where possible I take kit and enjoy experiencing new spots, meeting new people and enjoying new experiences.

I am on the board of the British Kitesurfing Association and make efforts to help as much as I can with admin and judging of wave events. Having adopted the Wing foiling revolution recently I have been busy developing a school program to introduce others into this foiling genre. This has lead to the WINGFOILKIT branch. In my remaining free time I frequently sail locally in Falmouth through the summer and I can often be found when it isn’t windy at Cafe Mylor.
